Garden in Shade designs: everything you need to know before you start planting

Most plants require sunny spots for their growth. However, there are species that succeed without much light. Below, we bring you everything you need to know about gardens in shade and plants that thrive without sunlight.
Before planting, it is very important to determine the status of your garden. The yard in which the sun appears about two to three hours during the day is a shade garden. If the shade in your yard is created by conifers, be aware that it is one of the most challenging areas for planting. In addition to creating great shade, high conifers also waste needles. Needles make the soil acidic, and on such soil, the plants not grow. If the shade in your yard is created by deciduous trees, the situation is a little better and there is a greater selection of plants that you can plant.
When it comes to planting plants under trees, you can improve the soil with fertilizer or compost. If you don’t want your shade garden to look monotonous, add winding garden paths and along the edges of the paths you can plant green perennials. For the garden choose plants of different colors, shapes, and heights.
In the full shade thrive plants most with ornamental form. In the shade garden, we recommend planting a Hydrangea, Coral Pearl, Waldstein’s Bell, Helleborus, Rodgersia, Geranium. In addition to the plants already mentioned, you can also choose from Saffron, Hyacinths, Lily of the Valley or forest Cyclamen. Creeper plants can also grow in shade, but will never reach size as plants that grow on sunlight.
Of the green perennials that can thrive in the shade, we will single out Petunia, Bitter Mint, Hosta and Brunnera Macrophylla (Siberian Bugloss)
Petunia is a perennial plant with decorative leaves with red and yellow spots. The bitter mint has purple flowers like lavender. The most beautiful among the green perennials that thrive in the shade is Hosta. There are different varieties and the decorative foliage in each Hosta variety is different in color. Finally, we should not forget the perennial Brunner Macrophylla.
In the shade garden also you can plant like herbs, salads:
