Tips for Whitening The Old Plastic Surface In The Home

How often have you faced the challenge of rejuvenating aging plastic items but felt unsure about where to begin? The process of restoring plastic to its former glory can be achieved through various home remedies. However, it’s crucial to exercise caution, especially when working with electronic devices. Ensure you disconnect them from the power source and avoid immediate reconnection post-cleaning.

Toothpaste: Surprisingly, plain toothpaste can work wonders. Simply apply a small amount to the plastic, gently buff it with a cloth, and rinse with water. However, be mindful of toothpaste with micro granules, as they may cause visible scratches. This method is particularly effective for matte plastics, where any scratches are less noticeable. For glossy plastics, exercise caution as scratches could impact the overall aesthetics.

Lemon Juice: A natural alternative involves lemon juice. Squeeze a lemon and saturate a cotton ball or cloth with the juice. Apply it to the plastic surface, leave it for a few minutes, and then wipe it away with a damp cloth. This method may not always yield perfect results, but it can suffice in certain cases without the need for stronger cleaning agents.

Hydrogen Peroxide: If you’ve ever dabbled in hair dye, you’re likely familiar with hydrogen peroxide. This household item can also be used to rejuvenate yellowed plastic. Apply it to the plastic surface, then wrap the item in aluminum foil and place it in direct sunlight. After an hour, check the treated item. Remember, though, that metal components may corrode when exposed to hydrogen peroxide, so exercise caution.

By utilizing these simple yet effective methods, you can breathe new life into your aging plastic possessions, giving them a fresh and revitalized appearance.
