Succulent garden ideas: Planting succulents in rocks

Succulents are all those plants that have thickened fleshy stems and a special ability to store reserve water in them. Can be divided into two large groups:
1. Plants with thickened leaves: agave, aloe etc.
2. Cacti – plants with a stem without leaves, leaves have turned into thorns.
These plants, accustomed to difficult living conditions in their natural environment, are just ideal houseplants because they tolerate dry room air well. Since they are usually small, stunted, they don’t take much space, which is also a big advantage. They are very suitable for planting in low pots and flower bowls, which fit very well into the decor of a modern apartment or garden. Succulents are grown in light, loose, permeable and sandy soil. A thick layer of coarse sand or debris should be placed on the bottom of the pot, for drainage.
In winter, the succulents should be watered very carefully, depending on the air temperature. Excess moisture in winter very easily causes rot and decay of plants. In winter, they shouldn’t be sprayed with water also because they are difficult to dry, and the water between the leaves and thorns causes rot and stains. Even in summer, they shouldn’t be watered on the leaf and stem. Sometimes they should be sprayed with a fine spray or cleaned of dust with a brush. You also need to be very careful when supplementing, because due to excessive growth they lose their bizarre shapes, due to which we actually grow them. Succulents require a lot of light and sun, so only some species need light shade in summer. If we keep them outside in the summer, they should be watered abundantly until mid-August, and then gradually switch to winter watering. They should be brought into the house in early October. They reproduce easily and take root quickly. Some species blooms, the flowers are with beautiful colors, but, unfortunately, short-lived.
There are a very large number of species and varieties of these interesting houseplants. In the gallery below you can find beautiful succulents gardens ideas that use rocks for planting.
